According to Coach Richard Del Rosario, his team's waterloo is their end-game poise. They seem to lose focus down the stretch in a pressure-packed game. With a team composed mainly of newbies, Del Rosario said, that aside from the execution itself of their game plan, he wants his boys to mature game after game. Tim McCoy, this year's team captain who will also be playing his final year is expected to lead the younger ones alongside scoring machine Carlo Lastimosa. But, the main gunner of the Taft-based quintet would need assistance from the second stringers. The veterans (Dela Paz and Tan) would have to double their efforts in securing the paint in order to make things happen for the Blazers. Standing out from the fresh faces to grace St. Benilde's bench is the towering 6'11 Jericho De Guzman. A lanky center who, if given the right exposure and drive, could crash the boards better than other centers who only stands at 6'5. The Blazers will also have former RP Youth U-18 member Michael Pate in their fold alongside former LSGH star Alyson Carlos. Paolo Taha, a former San Sebastian Stag who found his way to Taft is also expected to deliver big numbers based on his pre-season stint. Del Rosario also noted that, he believes that, they have the capability of dictating the tempo of the game, but to be able to sustain the intensity and the lead will be the biggest challenge they would want to surpass as Season 87 progresses.
