Despite his injury in the latter part of the season, Thoss was one of the major contributors to Alaska’s title run in the Fiesta Conference that also earned him his first inclusion in the Mythical Five. Thoss reappeared in the Finals and even made significant contributions in the series against the Beermen. The Papua New Guinea-born center averaged 8.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 58 games last season. The 28-year-old slotman will remain Cone’s top big man in the years to come with Sam Eman as his understudy. The question now is how healthy Thoss is when Alaska tries to end a decade-long search for another All-Filipino trophy.
