Apple planning early 2012 launch for new iPad—WSJ

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal quoted ‘people familiar with the situation’ at Apple as saying orders had been placed for key components for the new tablets, including display panels and chips.
The US paper claims the iPad 3 will include a high resolution 2048 by 1536 pixel display, which would be a significant improvement on the current iPad 2 model.
An unidentified supplier is quoted as claiming Apple has ordered parts for 1.5million iPad 3s for the fourth quarter of this year, with an eye on an early 2012 launch.
The report last week declared: ‘Suppliers will ramp up production and try to improve the yield rate for the new iPad in the fourth quarter before its official launch in early 2012.’
Apple has yet to comment on the rumours and is likely to remain quiet on all speculation up until the actual launch of the new tablet.
